Noraxon offers two types of pre-amplified lead wires to be used with
MyoSystem1400 and TeleMyo2400. The two-snap pre-eamplified lead wire (part
#242) attaches to the two EMG surface electrodes at the muscle site. The
three-snap pre-amplified lead wire (part #243) provides an additional
electrode contact. This third snap serves as a ground reference for the
whole measurement system. Typically, only one three-snap pre-amplified
lead wire is required in a measurement system and all other channels can
use two-snap pre-amplified lead wires. The three-snap pre-amplified lead
wire supplies an "active cancellation" signal to the reference
electrode. The signal is a "negative" version of the common
mode signal present in the two differential input snaps. This cancellation
method serves to reduce any common mode signal present on the subject
and improves the system's overall noise performance.
