Noraxon Hosts November Surface EMG Seminar
Ideal for Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialists
Scottsdale, Ariz. (October 20, 2003) - Noraxon U.S.A. Inc., a
leader in surface electromyography, is hosting a two-day comprehensive seminar
Nov. 15 -16 entitled “Surface EMG in Assisted Rehabilitation: Muscle Imbalance
and Orthopedic Dysfunction,” presented by Glenn Kasman, M.S., P.T. in
Harahan, Louisiana.
Physical medicine practitioners routinely assess muscle activity while working
with patients that have pain and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Surface electromyography
(SEMG) is a method used to monitor muscle activity from the skin’s surface
while performing patient assessment and treatment. Using SEMG, clinicians and
patients gain access to muscle feedback that is far more effective than performing
alone. It helps practitioners target the intended muscle and prescribe the most
effective exercises for treatment.
The interactive seminar will familiarize clinical practitioners with SEMG fundamentals,
as well as specific assessment procedures and interventions – muscle imbalance
and orthopedic dysfunction. Practitioners will learn how to identify if treatments
are targeting the intended muscles, implement SEMG into therapy training, and
prescribe the most effective exercises for patient. The course includes lectures,
demonstrations and lab sessions. No prior experience with SEMG is required.
The seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday,
Nov. 15-16 at Advantage Physical Therapy located in Harahan, LA. The seminar
costs $275 per participant, which includes lunch, documentation for continuing
education units, and course material. Registration is required. Contact Noraxon
at (800) 364-8985 for further information.
