Noraxon's surface EMG systems can be used in several research applications either in conjunction with a motion measurement system (such as Motion Analysis, Vicon, Peak Performance, Qualisys etc.) or by combining EMG signals with foot switch and/or electrogoniometer signals. Interfacing with motion measurement systems and any other analog devices is conveniently achieved using Noraxon's BNC connector cables. Notice that NorSwitch and NorAngle amplifiers can also be interfaced directly with Noraxon's telemetric transmitter for a totally wireless measurement of all signals.

The ideal product configuration for research includes an 8 or 16 channel telemetric EMG system (TeleMyo) combined with a portable laptop computer hosting a PCMCIA card for analog-to-digital conversion. Data acquisition, analysis and reporting can all be efficiently handled with MyoResearch XP software, which has specific automated features designed for various research applications. These include: automatic marker placement based on foot switch or angle data, time averaging separately for stance and swing periods, amplitude normalization of mean or maximum values, and graphical/ numerical comparisons between records or against a database, etc. ASCII file generation capacity allows the data to be exported to statistical or other software for further analysis.
